If you are considering a facelift or thread lift for facial rejuvenation in Turkey and are looking for the right treatment for you, please read on.
Thread lifts help to improve mild sagging and deep lines. For a more dramatic result, you may need additional procedures such as fillers or injections. A facelift, on the other hand, has a more comprehensive effect on loose skin and pronounced changes in the shape of the lower face.
If you have a slight loss of definition in your cheeks, temples or jawline, thread treatment may be worth considering.
Thread lift in Antalya
In Turkey, the thread facelift procedure involves placing specialised threads beneath the skin to lift the tissues in specific areas. No excess skin is removed during this procedure. Consequently, the results are generally more noticeable in cases of mild sagging. It is the preferred method for lifting the eyebrows and nose, as well as for tightening the entire face, chin and neck.
It may appeal to people who do not want surgery or scarring and are looking for a subtle change. However, the term ‘non-surgical facelift’, which is frequently used online, may create false expectations. A thread lift cannot achieve the full extent of the changes that a surgical facelift can provide.
As a thread lift is a short procedure, it offers an alternative for people with busy social lives. For some people, it may be necessary to undergo additional procedures alongside a thread face lift. In such cases, other areas of the face can be enhanced with fillers or injections to achieve facial rejuvenation.

During a facelift, the surgeon is able to reposition facial tissues and, where necessary, remove excess skin. The procedure is particularly recommended for sagging in the lower face, sagging cheeks and loss of definition along the jawline. Depending on the surgical plan, a neck lift may also be performed in Antalya.
However, a facelift is not a procedure that can resolve every issue on its own, from the forehead down to the neck. A neck lift may be required for sagging skin on the neck, whilst a brow lift may be needed for changes around the eyebrows or eyelids.

| Concern | Thread lift | Surgical facelift |
|---|---|---|
| Mild sagging in one area | May provide a subtle lift | May not be necessary for this degree of sagging |
| Noticeable sagging of the cheeks and jawline | May have a limited effect | Can address the lower face more extensively |
| Excess, loose skin | Does not remove skin | Excess skin can be removed as part of the surgical plan |
| Loose skin on the neck | Threads placed in the face may not address it | Can be addressed if a neck lift is included in the plan |
How long do facelift and thread lift last?
Human skin, by its very nature, continues to sag as the years go by. Neither a facelift nor a thread lift can stop the face from changing over time or prevent the skin from sagging.
Furthermore, the effects of a facelift in Antalya last longer than those of a thread lift. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, results from a SMAS facelift may last 10 to 15 years, depending on individual factors. The effects of a thread lift may last up to 12 months. Particular caution is required regarding the longevity of results with thread lifts.
Is a thread lift safer because it is less invasive?
A facelift is a more invasive procedure than a thread lift. A study indicates that complications such as the sensation of the thread, swelling and skin indentations may occur.
A facelift, on the other hand, is a surgical procedure and requires a longer recovery period. The NHS lists bleeding, infection, nerve damage, scarring and problems with wound healing among the possible risks.
Thread lift vs facelift after recovery
The incision pattern depends on the type of facelift and the areas being treated. It may begin near the temple, follow the natural contours around the ear and extend behind it. It is advisable to wear a compression garment if your surgeon recommends it. If you follow the post-operative instructions given by your surgeon, you can enjoy a more comfortable recovery. Many people feel ready to resume social activities after around 2-4 weeks, although recovery varies.
Facelift vs thread lift in Turkey: Which treatment is best?
If you do not have deep wrinkles and your skin has only just started to sag, a thread lift may be more suitable for you.
If you have noticeable sagging of the cheeks, excess skin or looseness in the neck, a facelift may be more suitable.
